At Little Mineral Marina & Resort I found another hidden secret; the Monarda punctata (Spotted Horse Mint). I have only found one other location with this species thus far; the OU Biological Station. Both were found using observations on iNaturalist.

Upon my arrival, I first checked to see if I could find the population. YES! I opened my car door and the smell of Monarda immediately was evident. I looked around and found well over 100 plants; enough to sustain my collection of ten plants.

I then made my way to the resort office and spoke with Jenny; a lovely young lady. She explained that Tim would be the person I needed to talk with and was showing a rental at the present time. I left my name and number with Jenny that day hopeful to receive a call back. I did not have to wait long.

Within thirty minutes, Jenny called me back telling me that I was good to collect the plants whenever I was ready; just don't cut any trees down. I reassured her that I would comply with this one stipulation as I had no intent of cutting down any trees. I then confirmed the area would not be mowed.

I then continued driving with a smile and turned on some tunes (Wild Child - "Expectations") as I drifted to the next destination.
